Job Title: Power BI Consultant (Local Government / Public Sector)
Location: London (1-2x per week onsite)
Contract: Until February 2024 (Likely extension beyond)
Rate: £450 per day (Inside IR35)
About the Role:
Salt Recruitment is seeking an experienced Power BI Consultant/Developer for an exciting contract role with a London Borough. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role in delivering advanced data analytics and reporting solutions, supporting data-driven decision-making within the council. You will work on projects that enhance internal processes and the council's ability to manage and interpret key performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain complex Power BI dashboards and reports to meet business needs.
- Create and optimise data models to support accurate reporting.
- Integrate data from multiple sources, such as SQL, Azure, SharePoint, and Excel, into Power BI.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable data insights.
- Ensure high performance and scalability of Power BI reports, troubleshooting and tuning where necessary.
- Provide training and support to staff on Power BI usage and best practices.
- Maintain technical documentation for Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy regulations, and security standards.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a Power BI Consultant/Developer or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of data analytics and reporting projects.
- Expertise in data modelling techniques, DAX, Power Query, and SQL Server.
- Experience with integrating data from various sources into Power BI (e.g., SQL, Azure, SharePoint, Excel).
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to optimise performance for large-scale data models and reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
Essential:
- Previous experience in local or central government is required.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with the broader Microsoft Power Platform (e.g., Power Apps, Power Automate).
- Experience working in the public sector or on government projects.
