Supervising Social Worker, Fostering, Cheshire West

Pertemps are recruiting for qualified and experienced Supervising Social Workers to join the Fostering service in Cheshire West. The postholder will manage foster carers, adopters and their families to enable them to provide an appropriate level and quality of care for children in the interests of safeguarding children, in accordance with national standards and statutory requirements.

Duties:

  • Recruit, assess, and approve foster carers and adopters, in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Manage, supervise, support and develop foster carers, adopters and carer support workers, directly providing and / or facilitating training as appropriate in order to safeguard the welfare of looked after children and adopted children. To act in an advisory role to Grade 8 and Grade 9 social workers
  • Independently manage and be accountable for decisions relating to an allocated workload of, including fees and expenditure, within individual and group priorities and county policies to ensure effective and appropriate outcomes
  • Undertake an assessment of needs including where appropriate a risk assessment and liaise with other internal and external agencies to ensure that the support given is appropriate and meets the needs of looked after /adopted children in placement
  • Identify appropriate foster carer / adoptive placements to ensure an effective match (Family Finding)
  • Design, plan and evaluate developments in services and new ideas, by sharing knowledge about theory, skills and practice with other Social Services staff, professional groups and interested bodies to ensure that changes in service demand are effectively addressed
  • Assess for and provide or arrange provision of post adoption support to adoptees and their families to ensure that national standards are maintained
  • Appraise, train and develop staff under supervision to ensure that they are able to participate and contribute fully to the work and service objectives
  • Prepare for and attend supervision sessions and staff meetings and make use of all available training and developmental opportunities

Requirements:

  • Post-qualifying experience within statutory children's service, particularly with looked after children
  • Experience of supervising Foster Carers
  • SWE registered
