Job Advertisement: Support Worker
Job Introduction:
I am building a small team of committed, reliable and motivated individuals to provide care for me within my home and support me to access community activities, day trips and holidays in the UK and abroad as agreed.
About Me:
I am a young man living with cerebral palsy, I live in my own home with my parents, my support team have dedicated rooms and facilities within my home.
There will be some light cleaning duties to maintain my environment.
I am wheelchair dependent and drive my powered wheelchair at home and in the community, my home is adapted to meet my needs.
I am passionate about sports one of my favourite sports is cricket and I enjoy going to cricket games during the cricket season.
I will need people to assist me with building my independence and confidence to plan my time, organise appointments and correspondence; and motivate and support me in accessing community, leisure activities and health services.
The role will also include administering medication, keeping daily records, completing online and mandatory practical training, working with other members of my team, such as case manager and physiotherapist, following therapy plans to deliver physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions.
There will be the possibility of living in to support me at home for my parents to take holidays for up to a period of up to 14 days, stay away with me overnight and or go away on holiday with me in the UK or abroad, this will always be agreed with you in advance with plenty of notice.
About the role:
Hourly Rate: £14.00 per hour for all shifts.
Average potential earnings per annum £16.800.00 based on 25 hours per week.
Overtime hours are available to support additional activities, cover annual leave/sickness/parent holidays/client holidays.
Shift Times: Vary dependant on the package.
Days and Nights: Day shifts are 12 hour 30 mins per shift between 08:30 – 20:00. Night shifts are 12 hour 30 mins per shift between 20:00 – 08:30. The positions would be a mixture of days, waking nights and weekends.
Contract: Two posts at 25 hours per week/100 hours per month
Contract: Bank position 0 hours contract.
Location: Sheffield
The company is unable to sponsor the employment of international workers in this role. You will need to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK.
The Ideal Candidate
You should be:
- Experienced in supporting people with Physical/ learning disabilities and Mental Health disorders.
- Be resilient, patient and understanding. It will take a while to be able to develop a strong bond with me.
- Fun, caring and committed to supporting me in the ways I need support.
- Able to work well as part of a team and independently, and with other professionals involved.
You will need:
- Flexible availability.
- Complex care experience.
- A full UK drivers' licence to drive my wheelchair adapted transporter vehicle.
- To participate in hydrotherapy sessions and water-based activities.
- To be willing to travel.
- A current DBS (Paper or update service). A DBS check will be carried out if your DBS is not current with the last 3 years.
- English Language.
