Climate Programme Manager

Climate17 is delighted to be partnering with a borough council, to help assist in their contribution to the climate emergency. We are seeking a Climate Programme Manager to implement and deliver their climate action plans.

You will be working with a varied list of stakeholders, communities, local education, elected bodies, and provide cross collaborative functions across central governments.

You will have responsibility for:

  • Lead the development and implementation of climate action policies and programmes to achieve carbon reduction targets.
  • Integrate climate change actions into the Borough Council's Corporate Priorities.
  • Foster partnerships to achieve carbon reduction outcomes.
  • Support local businesses in implementing low carbon measures.
  • Conduct research to support climate action policies.
  • Secure funding for decarbonisation initiatives.

Main Duties:

  • Lead Pendle's climate change agenda, providing strategic support to the Corporate Leadership Team.
  • Implement policies and projects to support the Climate Action Plan.
  • Develop a funding strategy and secure resources for carbon reduction.
  • Communicate available support to residents, businesses, and landowners.
  • Commission external research and support for policy development.
  • Liaise with Lancashire Climate Action Network to share best practices.
  • Stay informed on climate regulations and policies.
  • Coordinate the Climate Emergency and Officer Climate Working Groups.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Relevant degree or significant experience in sustainability, environmental management, or public policy
  • Post Graduate qualification
  • Developing and managing climate change programmes
  • Partnership working with public, private, or voluntary sectors
  • Presenting complex information to various audiences
  • Knowledge of climate regulations and technical information
  • Securing external funding
