Our client, a south-west based company is currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their expanding team on a 6 month, part-time fixed term contract basis. This will be based on 25 hours per week.
As the Bookkeeper, you will be instrumental in supporting the business by preparing VAT Returns, and Tax Returns for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies across diverse sectors. The ideal candidate will excel in communicating confidently with a wide range of clients and demonstrate the ability to work independently under the pressure of deadlines.
The responsibilities:
- Greeting new clients and setting up their files, ensuring all necessary information is accurately recorded and organised.
- Handling client bookkeeping tasks, which include performing bank reconciliations and maintaining detailed sales and purchase ledgers.
- Assisting with the preparation and processing of VAT returns to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Contributing to the preparation of Management Accounts for a diverse client base, providing valuable insights and financial data.
- Supporting the preparation of Self-Assessment tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Engaging in extensive client interaction and managing email accounts, maintaining strong communication and relationships.
- Performing general office duties to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
The candidate:
- You should have previous experience in an accountancy practice environment, ensuring familiarity with industry standards and procedures.
- You will be studying towards or will have obtained formal finance qualifications, such as AAT Level 3, AAT Level 4, demonstrating your commitment to professional development.
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills are required.
