Nigel Wright Procurement and Supply Chain Team are working with a market-leading Manufacturer to recruit a Commodity Manager (Direct Materials) into their growing Purchasing Team.
They will support hybrid working - minimum 4 days per week on site with the option of 1 day per week home-working.
The Role
Working within a small team, the Commodity Manager (Direct Materials) will have strategic procurement responsibility for a range of Direct commodities, remit to include:
- Full Direct spend and supply analysis, multi-site responsibility
- Category market research
- New supplier sourcing, contract negotiations
- Supplier performance management and review meetings
- Representing Purchasing at key internal meetings
- Building relationships x-functionally with key internal stakeholders
About You
The Commodity Manager (Direct Materials) will have/be:
- Proven strategic procurement track record (direct materials) and be able to demonstrate a strong technical understanding/understanding of manufacturing process
- Procurement experience from within high volume Manufacturing/Electronics/Chemical sectors desirable
- Previous negotiation experience essential
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills – confident to challenge both internally and externally
- Strong communication skills, adept at building relationships quickly
- Resilient and adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced working environment
- Proactive, assertive, confident decision maker with a hands-on, can do attitude
- Diligent, efficient, strong prioritisation skills – able to deliver to deadline
