Client Details

  • You will be joining a team that is investing heavily into it's strategic HR strategy and will be involved in an exciting phase of change.
  • The HR team currently consists of around 20 individuals supporting 1000's of employees across the organisation.
  • The HR team's strategy is to drive down sickness absence, improve ED&I policies across the organisation and up-skill line manager's.
  • This is a part time position across 4 days with work from home 2 days per week.

Description

You will lead on ER cases, drive down absence and proctively partner with line managers upskilling, coaching and guiding on HR practices.

You will play a crucial role, offering guidance and advice throughout the entire employee journey. Therefore, the ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional organisational abilities, effective time management skills, a professional demeanor, and an exceptional eye for detail and accuracy.

Participate in job evaluation processes

Onboarding Support

  • Collaborate proactively with administrative personnel responsible for people management activities.
  • Assist in the smooth onboarding of new starters.
  • Address UK Visa and Immigration inquiries, facilitating visa route resolutions and managing Home Office interactions via the Support Management System for Certificate of Sponsorship issuance.
  • Provide guidance on DBS Checks (Disclosure and Barring Service) and recommend appropriate checks for positions involving children or vulnerable adults.

Employee Relations

  • Triage staff reports received through the organisations Report and Support System.
  • Offer relevant advice, guidance, and support.
  • Ensure compliance with UK right-to-work laws, assisting with renewals and contract terminations as needed.
  • Collaborate with managers and employees to address issues at an early stage, promoting a positive work environment through open dialogue and solution-focused problem-solving.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers on sickness and absence management, including Occupational Health Referrals, Reasonable Adjustments Passport, and Sickness Absence Reviews/Hearings.
  • Offer advice on lower-level employment relations casework, delivering specialised and risk-based guidance for fair, consistent, and timely resolutions. Casework areas include grievance, absence management, capability, probation, disciplinary matters, and fixed-term contract terminations (and extensions).
  • Support and advise presenting managers at formal hearings/meetings.
  • Maintain and update casework data and assist with data collation for purposes such as Freedom of Information requests.
  • Cultivate productive relationships with trade union colleagues, promoting open communication to address issues and enhance positive employment relations.
  • Provide support to the Assistant HR Business Partner, HR Business Partners, and Head of HR Operations and Employee Relations for more complex employee relations cases when required.
  • Assist HR Business Partners with administrative support for organizational change activities, including restructures, redundancy, and redeployment within departments/Faculties as necessary.

Policies, Processes, and Information

  • Contribute to the review and development of HR policies and procedures within the legal framework.
  • Support the Assistant HR Business Partner Relations in reviewing, updating, and developing guidance and frequently asked questions documents in alignment with current employment legislation, best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Continuously review and streamline processes while maintaining inclusivity and meeting internal stakeholders' needs.
  • Extract, collate, and analyse data from HR Systems, producing reports as required. Identify trends and take a proactive approach to address issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy and secure storage of all HR Systems, both paper-based and electronic, in compliance with audit requirements, confidentiality, and data protection regulations.

Profile

A successful Part Time HR Advisor should have:

  • Previous HR Generalist experience
  • A thorough understanding of HR practices and employment law
  • Employee relations experience is essential
  • The ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
  • A proactive approach and to build strategic relationships with your key stakeholder group
