Job Title: IT Officer

Salary: 34k - 40k

Location - Oxford

Overview of the role :

The post holder will have responsibility for managing all aspects of IT across several faculties within departments Division. This includes deploying and managing physical and virtual servers and supporting the end-user device estates, aspects of user administration, hardware

and software installation and support, maintenance and upgrades of all faculty systems including the Active Directory domains, web, storage, and security. The post holder will liaise with central IT Services regarding networking infrastructure and advise the faculties on the implications of central IT projects. The post holder will line manage at least one IT Officer support other junior members of the IT team, including leading the learning of any IT apprentice posts.

Essential

  • A degree in any subject, or relevant IT qualifications and experience
  • Experience of IT Service Management platforms
  • Experience of TCP/IP networking, including the management and configuration of switches and routers, network fault finding, IPv4, DHCP, DNS and VLANs.
  • Experience in the implementation, management and monitoring of network and computer security, including firewall configuration and management, security hardening, maintenance of software security updates, and the central administration of Endpoint Security
  • Considerable experience in the management of Windows servers (2012+), Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Demonstrable experience in the management and configuration of file servers, including an understanding of NTFS permissions and security
  • Experience with virtualisation
  • Experience supporting desktop operating systems including Windows and MacOS
  • A systematic and methodical approach to complex problem solving, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience of IT planning, management, and strategy
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise a heavy and varied workload
  • A high standard of inter-personal communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to communicate effectively with people of all levels of computer literacy
  • Initiative, drive and self-motivation; willingness and ability to learn new skills
