Senior Design Engineer

This position seeks a Senior Design Engineer, who will contribute to the development and implementation of design strategies for products within an Industrial / Manufacturing setting. The role is based in Manchester and involves working collaboratively with the Engineering & Manufacturing team.

Our client has been developing and pushing the boundaries in vehicle lighting technology and is now one of the leading UK based manufacturers of exterior and interior lighting and associated electrical equipment for a variety of sectors.

Description

As Senior Design Engineer you will be tasked with the following;

  • Prepare concepts and designs for new products.
  • Maintain existing product designs and documentation when changes are required for corrective actions and product improvements.
  • Design products & solutions that will be reliable and meet the required road and rail product standards.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Manager on priorities according to project & product requirements.
  • Review customer standards and implement these in product designs or manufacturing processes.
  • Liaison with test houses to plan and execute required "Type Testing" of products.
  • Follow design processes procedures for review and documentation. Drawing control, DFMEA, design for manual assembly, design for manufacture.
  • Provide technical input to sales and customer enquiries.
  • Provide technical support to quality and production. Problem solving and fault finding.
  • Liaising with Far East design and manufacturing partners.

Profile

A successful Senior Design Engineer should have:

  • 3D modelling & 2D detailing using CAD software; CREO, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS or other similar.
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline. 5 years work experience in Engineering environment.
  • Experience using GD&T and tolerance studies.
  • Experience with electromechanical systems and working with, specifying electrical components.
  • Familiar with DFMEA analysis and documentation.
  • BOM maintenance (Bills of material) on business planning software.
  • Maintenance of Technical documentation and revision control.
  • Plastic Injection mouldings (component design)
  • Metal brackets and fixture fabrication.
  • Microsoft office tools Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
  • Document control systems and procedures.

Job Offer
