Youth Support Coach

Posted by Red 5 People Ltd.

Are you a graduate looking to launch your career? Or maybe you have experience of working with young people and would like to join a large charity who support young people with SEN support needs such as a learning disability or autism.

This charity works in partnership with Haringey Council and the College of North East London to provide work placements for young people with autism or a learning disability. It will often be the young persons first experience of work, so they need that extra support. As a concept, its very similar to a Teaching Assistant, but in a work environment instead of a classroom.

Typical tasks include:

  • Supporting the young person to plan their journey to work so they can become independent.
  • Attending work with them, working closely with employers to provide support as needed.
  • Help the young person apply for paid work with CV writing, job applications and interview preparation.
  • End of day calls with the young person and employer to check on progress.
  • Liaising closely with the tutor around potential extra support needs.
  • Build relationships with employers to secure internship opportunities.

You will support up to 6 of 12 young people on the programme and you will be making a huge difference in their lives.

To apply, you might be a recent graduate in a related degree such as psychology. Or you might have experience of working with young people with support needs, so could have worked as a tutor, teacher or learning support assistant or teaching assistant. You might have also worked as a support worker, hostel worker, careers advisor or employment advisor.

The role is a full time FTC until 31st July 2025 subject to extension. Working Monday to Friday, between 8:30 - 4:30.
