Purchase Ledger Controller

Accountancy Connect is seeking a Purchase Ledger Controller for a growing SME in Fareham.

Our client has automated the input of purchase invoices so this role will have responsibility for ensuring that the system is working correctly and accurately. Due to the time saving here, the business has widened the responsibilities of the role to include the full purchase to pay process, which also includes some purchasing processes. They are not seeking experience within purchasing as training will be provided however, they would like someone with a solid understanding of the end to end purchase ledger process.

Key tasks for the Purchase Ledger Controller:

  • Ensure the purchasing ledger in Microsoft Dynamic Business Central is update and accurate daily
  • Supplier statement reconciliations on key accounts
  • Key stakeholder in driving automation of the purchasing function through MD365 Business Central, including training managers to raise purchases directly in the system, implementing Continia for auto document capture
  • Review, advise, collate and process orders placed by staff to ensure timing deliver of consumables and ensure delivery notes are accurately matched.
  • Compile the weekly BACS payment list
  • Source materials and services for the business with particular focus on leveraging the Group purchasing power
  • Advise and supervise staff and assist with training of staff in purchasing department on MD365 Business Central
  • Deal with account queries and liaise with the Finance Manager when necessary
  • Help out on ad hoc tasks across the wider finance team

Required knowledge and experience:

  • A very strong understanding of purchase ledger processes, preferably within a SME, however, corporate sized business experience will also be considered.
  • Studying AAT or already qualified is preferred.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to build professional relationships within the business.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Pivot tables and V Lookups.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft D365, Navision or Dynamics Great Plains would be beneficial, but not essential.
