Experienced Secondary School - First Aid & Welfare Assistant

A local school are seeking a dedicated School First Aid/ Welfare Assistant to manage and respond to all first aid needs within our school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing medical situations, administering first aid, and liaising with staff, parents, and external health agencies.

Job Type: Temporary Assignment (until the end of term)

Location: East London

Salary: Hourly Rate

Working Hours: 36hours pw

Clearance: Enhanced DBS

Day to Day of the role:

  • Assess and respond to first aid needs of pupils and staff, taking immediate action in emergencies.
  • Decide on the necessity of further medical assistance and administer first aid as required.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and administer prescribed medication with parental consent.
  • Liaise with health agencies for advice and support on student health issues.
  • Manage first aid records in SIMS and report to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with SEND & Safeguarding Admin Officer on medical-related matters.
  • Order and maintain first aid supplies within budgetary constraints.
  • Welcome visitors in line with the school's safeguarding policy.
  • Support pupils with ongoing medical needs according to their Individual Health Care Plans.
  • Utilize management information systems for data entry and retrieval, and produce necessary reports.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • First aid certification and willingness to attend necessary training updates.
  • Experience in administering medication and understanding of health care plans.
  • Proficiency in using SIMS or similar information systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with various internal and external parties.
