Business Support Officer
- Location: Barnsley, S70
- Job Type: Full-time, 8.30am-5pm Mon-Fri
- Salary: £12.18 PAYE / £14.88 Umbrella per hour
My client are seeking a dedicated Business Support Officer to join their team and provide comprehensive support across a range of service functions. This role is crucial in facilitating statutory meetings, managing sensitive information, and ensuring excellent customer service within Children Services.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries, offering advice, guidance, and support to both internal and external customers.
- Triage and direct referrals and requests for service to appropriate teams, ensuring a timely response.
- Process various referrals/requests and maintain accurate records on computer and paper-based systems.
- Organise and support statutory meetings, producing minutes and action schedules while liaising with stakeholders.
- Undertake financial administration tasks, including order placement, invoice processing, and petty cash management.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain communication links.
- Manage administrative duties amidst interruptions and conflicting demands.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures affecting service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a business support environment.
- Proven experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience working with financial information and understanding of Local Government financial regulations.
- Proficient in servicing meetings and minute-taking directly onto mobile devices.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer-based systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information effectively in both written and verbal forms.
- Ability to process large volumes of information accurately and maintain confidentiality.
- Emotional resilience and composure in dealing with sensitive content.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet strict deadlines.
- Team player with a flexible approach to work.
