Reports To: Warehouse Operations Manager

Our roastery in Basildon which is where this role is based, is one of the biggest roasteries in Europe and allows us to produce 45,000 tonnes of coffee a year. This is where all our coffee supplied to the UK and world is roasted and grounded, and we must say it's a truly fantastic team and site to be part of.

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Warehouse Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a forklift to move stock, managing inbound and outbound logistics, and utilizing computer systems for inventory management. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of goods within our warehouse, maintaining safety standards, and supporting the overall operation of the Roastery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forklift Operation: Safely operate a forklift to move, load, and unload stock within the warehouse. Ensure that goods are transported without damage and are stored in the appropriate locations.
  • Goods In: Receive and process inbound deliveries, verifying the quantity and quality of goods. Accurately update inventory records and report any discrepancies or damages.
  • Outbound Collections: Prepare and process orders for outbound delivery. This includes picking, packing, labelling, and coordinating with logistics partners for timely dispatch.
  • Inventory Management: Use warehouse management software to track inventory levels, update stock records, and manage order processing. Ensure data accuracy and timely entry of all transactions.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper handling of materials and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Warehouse Operations Manager. Daily safety checks of the forklift trucks.
  • General Warehouse Duties: Assist with general warehouse tasks, including organizing and maintaining cleanliness in the warehouse, conducting regular stock counts, and supporting other team members as needed. Perform fire marshal duties when required. Train new members on key H&S requirements

Qualifications:

  • Forklift Certification: Valid counterbalance/pivot steer certification is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics role, with a strong emphasis on forklift operation and inventory management.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy items
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for accuracy in processing orders and handling inventory.
  • Team Player: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
