Design & Project Engineer required for a successful manufacturing company based in Retford, Nottinghamshire. Working mainly in the aerospace, defence and industrial sectors this company works with several big companies such as Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Bombardier, Rolls Royce. The ideal candidate will come from an engineering background who wishes to develop their broader business acumen including increased accountability in front of industry leading customers. It is envisaged that further development opportunities will be made available to the successful candidate.
Design & Project Engineer Position Overview
- Maintain clear project plans, (using Microsoft Project), action lists and documentation in adherence to company Programme Management (PM) processes.
- Work with the finance team to ensure costs are managed in line with approved budgets for each project.
- Provide input to the costing and quotation activities in support of new business opportunities.
- Customer reporting (face-to-face customer visits will be required as appropriate).
- Ensure projects are handed over to the Ops department fully populated with tooling, specifications, etc. so that routine manufacture can be achieved at the target product cost.
- In response to customer enquiries, as directed by the Engineering or Sales function, generate design proposals (using Catia) in support of commercial proposals to secure new business.
- Review customer specifications and requirements and translate these into Catia models / 2D drawings.
- Create detail designs (2D working drawings) of products and their sub-components to facilitate manufacture within IPL or any of its sub-contractors.
Design & Project Engineer Position Requirements
- Ability to understand resource constraints and use this understanding to prioritise tasks to ensure that all projects remain on track.
- Graduate, preferably in an Engineering discipline, and experienced in a wide variety of manufacturing technologies, materials and processes.
- Strong customer focus with credible experience of close customer collaboration.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and capable of understanding technical requirements and translating these into defined actions.
- Experience in engineering activities including design using Catia V5, assembly and testing of new products would be advantageous.

- Salary £35,000- £45,000
