Job Description

The client is looking for a Hygiene to join their Hygiene team. The Hygiene operative shall ensure that the plant including environmental cleaning, sanitation areas and external perimeter are cleaned to a high standard. Responsible for ensuring that all company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times and that Health and safety and COSHH policies and followed at all times. Must be able to work as part of a team and occasionally as an individual in order to achieve the high standards of cleaning required within and around the plant. In order to achieve this a hygiene operator will need to use different methods of cleaning to achieve the desired result these may include manual chemical cleaning, steam cleaning, washroom cleaning or the use of brushes, squeegees, scrappers, scrubber driers, hoovers, high level access equipment, etc. The operative shall be required to remove and replace guarding/belts on machinery to gain access to some areas for cleaning. A hygiene operative will need to have a key attention to detail and must be physically fit and agile in order to access some areas of machinery for cleaning. The role will also require to fill out paperwork for work that has been completed every day in order to ensure our customer and legal requirements are met.

Duties

  • Ensure that all areas within the plant and its environmental areas are cleaned to a high standard this includes but is not an exhaustive list of the following areas Process, clean room, packing halls, warehouse, high level cleaning, washroom, yard, silos, compactors, toilets, canteen, locker rooms, etc. This will help ensure that we meet all customer and legal requirements in hygiene are achieved.
  • Ensure that all health and safety policies and company procedures are followed at all times. You will be responsible for your own health and safety as well as the health and safety of any visitors and other employees that may be injured as a direct result of cleaning activities.
  • To attend and complete all required training
  • To complete all paperwork associated with the cleaning tasks on a daily basis this will include daily/weekly paperwork and periodic paperwork to ensure that we maintain our due diligence and meet all legal and customer requirements
  • Operate the different equipment in a safe manner and report any issues immediately to your Team leader/Manager. Equipment you may use in your day-to-day duties include the following: Hosepipes, scrubber driers, foaming units, steam cleaners, Vacuum cleaners, power washer, cabinet washer.
  • Required to spend time both indoor and outdoor regardless of weather conditions.
  • Working with chemicals
  • Working with Heights

Required knowledge, skills or experience

  • Ability to speak, read and write clearly in English as well as good literacy skills (you must be able to pass entry numeracy and literacy tests)
  • Must have Basic English & Math's qualifications
  • Must have previous commercial hygiene experience.
  • Experience in food manufacturing preferred.

Additional Information

Location: Seaham

Hours of work: 4 on 4 off, 6:00 - 18:00

Rates of pay: £12.93 p/h
