Job Title: Product Support Engineer
Location: Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £Negotiable and dependent on experience (Benefits can include an annual Hover travel ticket)
Hours worked: 08:00 - 16:45 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 - 12:30 on Friday
Expected Start Date: ASAP

This position would require the successful candidate to undergo and pass security checks
Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-reliability Connectivity solutions (Data Networking Components to Processor Based Subsystems) for aerospace, defence, space, and industrial applications.
JOB PURPOSE
Working as part of the Engineering team, providing support on the development of test hardware, software and documentation, ensuring the test processes and procedures are
satisfactory as part of the Production handover.
Provide support for the testing of development units and all qualification activities.

KEY TASKS

  • Design, Develop, Integrate and Document special to type test equipment hardware and software, including Automated Test systems.
  • Generation of test schedules and procedures.
  • Post development support to the manufacturing and test departments.
  • Testing of units in support of engineering development.
  • Contribute to project review meetings when required.
  • Perform Qualification testing of new developments, both internally and at external test houses.
  • Generation of Qualification test plans & reports.
  • Root cause analysis of PSU failures.
  • Obsolescence investigation.
  • Travelling to visit customers/suppliers as and when required for engineering support.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential :

  • Degree or HND qualified (or equivalent) in Electronics or a similar discipline.
  • Fully conversant with current Automated Test Methodologies.
  • Experience of product testing.
  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages / techniques (LabVIEW, C#, C, etc...).
  • Ability to design and manufacture test equipment.
  • Knowledge & application of safety standards in respect to test equipment.
  • Conversant with laboratory / workshop safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently.
  • Team player with a willingness to learn and take responsibility.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Switch Mode Power Supplies.
  • Ability to fault find electronic circuits and test equipment.
