Dispatch and Warehouse Assistant
LOCATION: Maresfield, Uckfield, East Sussex
REPORTS TO: Dispatch and Warehouse Manager

COMMUNICATORS: Position works with Labelling Supervisor, Winery Office Manager and Operations and Development Manager
MAIN PURPOSE:
To prepare client orders for dispatch. Assist with all site activities at Unit 4, Uckfield site.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To pick and prepare sales orders of wine for dispatch to customers in a timely manner to meet all shipping deadlines, ensuring that packaging and all dispatched items meet brand and regulatory standards.
- Assist with all site activities including receiving, storage, shipping, and any logistics related troubleshooting.
- Accurate completion of all required paperwork or electronic records relating or dispatched items, stored items and deliveries received.
- Always maintain a clean and tidy workspace.
- Receive and process returned goods promptly to ensure inventory remains accurate.
- Operate a forklift in the course of daily duties in the most safe, appropriate, correct, and quick way.
- Assist training for temporary agency staff, ensuring any unsafe or quality issues are reported promptly.
- To participate in the monthly stock inventory counts, for any goods on site.
- Assist with general operations at Unit 4 warehouse and communicate/report any facility related matters to Estate Office and/or Building Maintenance Technician.
- Assist with the security of the building, daily opening and closing of site, and daily security diligence.
- To comply with all accreditation or other standard relating to winemaking production.
- Comply with all relevant company SOPRAs and ensure to comply with company health and safety policies and practices.
- Deputise for Dispatch Manager in case of absence or holiday.
- Be proactive in proposing solutions to any problems seen or discovered.
- Any other duties reasonably required, including those not directly related to the Job Description.
- It is good practice to periodically review job descriptions. This could lead to amendments of job descriptions, which should only happen in consultation with the employee and their line manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in order picking, packing, and preparing sales orders for dispatch while ensuring accuracy and compliance with brand standards.
- Hands-on experience with receiving, storing, shipping, and troubleshooting logistics-related issues to ensure smooth operations.
- Proven ability and certification in operating a forklift safely and efficiently in a warehouse environment.
- Strong understanding and experience in adhering to health and safety regulations, particularly within a warehouse setting.
- Experience in training and supervising temporary staff, with a focus on ensuring safe practices and high-quality work.
- Background in managing daily facility operations, including security tasks such as opening, closing, and maintaining building security.
