Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist

Salary: £28,000- £50,000

MLK Education Search are excited to be supporting this specialist, primary provision for boys age six to twelve with ASC and SEMH needs in the search for a Speech and Language Therapist to start as soon as possible.

You Will:

  • Be able to deliver 1:1, paired and group interventions in and outside of the classroom, to meet provision outlined on pupil's EHCP
  • Help students with specific areas of difficulty, and have knowledge and in developing interventions to target SEMH needs
  • Implement strategies for students emotional regulation, to increase engagement in learning and develop pupils' self-esteem
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and training for the Education team, Pupil Support team, Safeguarding team and Therapy team, providing updates on student progression
  • Be able to liase with parents and carers with the management of students' emotional regulation and sensory needs at home
  • Partake in the assessment process of the school and to contribute the right feedback
  • Keep clinical notes and complete assessments highlighting issues of concern to the teams around the students and track progress, to ensure student data is available to inform future planning

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage a highly specialist caseload and to map the therapy provision for clinical, social and learning needs for students
  • To work collaboratively using the wave model of universal, targeted and specialist levels
  • Develop treatment for students using the wave provision model, differentiating the work according to student changing needs
  • Show a high level of clinical effectiveness, utilising evidence based practice and outcome measures and to develop guidelines informed by evidence for clinical specialism
  • Use clinical reasoning skills to interpret assessment findings from standardised and nonstandardised assessments to find an accurate diagnosis and prognosis to form appropriate therapy goals
  • Assess students on admission through the use of formal assessment and clinical observation, interpreting and explaining how relevant the assessment outcomes are in relation to student performance
  • Managing accurate case notes in line with professional standards and team policy
  • Providing and monitoring therapy programmes delivered by other members of school staff
  • Provide end of term reports and other required reports for parents
  • Spreading specialist knowledge to the staff group and parents through training, case conferences, seminars and meetings
  • To liaise with colleagues in other Trust schools, meeting together at least once every term

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent with license to practice (Essential)
  • Post-graduate qualification in related area
  • Experience within a similar setting (Desired)
