Assistant Director of Finance

Posted by Allen Lane.

An interesting new opening has arisen for an experienced team manager to join a leading NHS organisation in the South West as their Assistant Director of Finance for Financial Services.

Reporting to the Deputy CFO, the Assistant Director of Finance has overall responsibility for financial operations and the production of key group financial information, including an integrated set of monthly financial accounts as required by NHS England, annual statutory accounts, and key sections of the annual report. Furthermore, the post-holder oversees technical accounting arrangements at the organisation, ensuring robust and compliant controls are in place and is responsible for leading the team to ensure accurate, timely and reliable financial information is delivered. This includes financial advice, forecasting and reporting of the capital and cash programmes.

You should be a qualified accountant, or equivalent, and have substantial exposure to financial control and team management - indeed, you will need to demonstrate experience of leading and developing of teams. Expert knowledge of the NHS Financial Regime and Trust accounting framework will be essential. Owing to the breadth of the role, first-rate communication skills are important, as is the ability to prioritise and organise both your own and the team's workload.

This six month contract position has potential to extend longer. It is likely to be busy straight away but, as a result, should be very rewarding to the right individual.
