Our businesses cover electrical wholesale, energy management, and traffic control systems, working across a wide range of commercial and industrial applications - This role sits specifically in ESL who are one of the businesses that make up the group- they are in essence a global trading business.

ESL connects the demand and supply of industrial electrical components. As the world shifts to a more electric future, ESL helps customers procure their needs in this space by thinking and operating differently.

The company joins supply chains together in a simple and easy-to-deliver way. ESL sources requirements internationally to develop long-term relationships with customers and suppliers, we hold stock in three warehouses (UK, Europe, and America), we provide next-day delivery, and we provide local service in many countries by communicating in more than 18 different languages.

ESL is headquartered in Manchester with people located around the world. It was founded by two female entrepreneurs 17 years ago (both are still in the business) and the company has continued to deliver double-digit growth year after year. The company has 75 amazing people with brilliant skills.

We are now on a journey to build on this fabulous platform to create an even more connected and more automated environment that delivers outstanding service to our chosen markets.

Key Deliverables

  • Create, review, amend all the core processes of the ESL business and identify areas of improvement
  • Create, review, amend business requirements
  • Help the business preparing testing scenarios for the ERP implementation
  • Help the business preparing the training documentation and working procedures
  • Support the business at the go-live of the new ERP and after the go-live

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Managed day-to-day activities with ESL team and business partners
  • Keep business users informed of progress, providing weekly status reports
  • Capture and document business requirements on Confluence and where possible add or drive technical details
  • Understand platform configuration documentation and setup liaising with systems Product Owner as needed
  • Conduct business playback sessions, signs offs and keep business process documentation up to date
  • Lead UAT and functional testing together with project manager
  • Build a clear backlog of work driven by a value-based prioritisation in JIRA liaising with the Product Owner on prioritisation
  • Support the high-level project plan and link to JIRA backlog items
  • Support IT group governance on change management and dependencies
  • Any other responsibilities a laid out by the Head of IT & Digital Transformation

Essential Experience

  • Have demonstrable success delivering website builds and/or digital applications i.e., ERP, CRM
  • Have demonstrable knowledge of core processes in Distribution and/or Retail industries
  • Loves governance, documentation and collaboration tools and uses them as an enabler to the project and not a necessary evil
  • Experience in change management and configuration control
  • Able to put themselves in the customer's point of view while trying to maintain focus on the project and allowing sponsors to represent these views to achieve commercial objectives
  • Have experience coordinating with others and maximising support cross-functionally in high-pressure and time-sensitive environment

Person Specific

  • An exceptional communicator, working with on-site and remote teams, and technical and non-technical audiences
  • Someone who naturally keeps one eye on the bigger picture - able to get the day-to-day tasks done while looking out for new opportunities to move the project forward and achieve goals

Desired but not essential

  • PRINCE 2 or equivalent qualification
  • Agile SCRUM/Kanban qualification be very advantageous
  • Experience in delivering both waterfall and agile-based projects
  • Support UX/UI with work such as personas, user flows and content management
  • Used Magento or other ecommerce platforms such as SAP, Shopify
  • Confident in running customer interviews, user acceptance testing, user testing and requirements gathering workshops
  • Experiences in the documentation of technical requirements from a business point of view while managing technical teams to add in the science
  • Competent in office applications and collaborations tools like JIRA, Confluence, MS Teams
