We are seeking a Management Accountant to provide first-class financial service to all stakeholders of the college, enabling informed decision-making throughout the organisation. This role is integral to the financial health and strategic planning of the college.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and detailed forecasts within strict deadlines.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis and prepare cost centre management accounts.
  • Engage with College budget holders to analyse spend and funding sources.
  • Review and reconcile month-end balance sheet entries, addressing any irregularities.
  • Manage treasury functions and cash flow forecasting to ensure the College's financial sustainability.
  • Finalise annual financial statements in accordance with sector and statutory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain budget production and management systems.
  • Manage the finance system, ensuring accurate financial reporting and year-end processes.
  • Assist in preparing College budgets and three-year financial forecasts for submission to relevant bodies.
  • Address statutory requirements, including VAT compliance and timely VAT return submissions.
  • Produce regulatory body returns and ensure submissions meet deadlines.
  • Develop financial training strategies for non-financial managers to support budgetary management.
  • Manage the College's financial procedures and fixed asset register.
  • Reconcile actual pay costs to payroll reports for accurate management information.
  • Assist in managing the College's capital bid reporting and project delivery.
  • Act as a deputy for the Director of Finance, including as the main point of contact for auditors.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in preparing management accounts and financial statements.
  • Minimum of Level 4 Accountancy Qualification
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of statutory accounting standards and VAT regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders and providing financial training.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Previous Experience working in Finance/Management Accountant in Educational Setting.
