HSE advisor

Our client, a leading provider in the oil & gas sector, is currently seeking a Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join their team in Teesside. This permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to ensure high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across various operational sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Onsite focal point for the HSE function, ensuring adherence to the HSE Management System and promoting a strong HSE culture.
  • Providing HSE support to operational sites, ensuring contractual HSE requirements and associated plans are effectively communicated and implemented.
  • Preparation of required contractual HSE documentation.
  • Leading on-site incident investigations and ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are documented.
  • Ensuring all corrective actions from incidents, audits, inspections, and observations are effectively closed out.
  • Promoting the use of proactive safety tools and mentoring in their use.
  • Conducting audits and inspections of work processes as required.
  • Developing the competence of personnel in health and safety through training, support, and onsite mentoring.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in health, safety, and environmental management within the oil & gas sector.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices.
  • Proficiency in conducting incident investigations and preparing HSE documentation.
  • Ability to promote and implement HSE initiatives and proactive safety tools.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and influence others.
  • Relevant qualification in health, safety, and environmental management.

Routine Duties:

  • Participate, review, and assist with the development of risk assessments.
  • Ensure hazardous substances are subject to COSHH risk assessments and maintain the SYPOL system.
  • Support and participate in emergency response planning and training exercises.
  • Conduct regular HSE inspections and engage in safety conversations with onsite personnel.
  • Deliver mentoring and coaching as required.
  • Provide HSE inductions, briefings, and training to new starters and existing personnel.
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance indicators and assist with drug and alcohol testing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and report non-compliance.
