Head of Technical & Business Performance- International Casualty

London, (hybrid/flexible)

As our International Casualty offering continues to grow we have a newly created Head of Technical & Business Performance role. In this role you will focus on supporting our Director of Underwriting in managing and controlling the underwriting (including influencing claims and reinsurance) strategy and execution of our Intl Casualty portfolios to ensure the achievement of business plan within a compliant framework. With a global coverage including US business and broad product offering including Life Sciences this is a successful, growing and experienced team of Underwriters to join.

Your role:

  • In conjunction with the Director and ensure delivery of the annual business plan for the portfolio(s), monitor and report on progress, identify deviations, recommend remedial action and implement it, in order to achieve business objectives.
  • Initiate, analyse and deliver on new ideas and concepts to support the development and delivery of the business plan
  • Positively contribute to claims reserve reviews ensuring correct methodology is followed and liaison with internal stakeholders
  • Manage the performance monitoring of the account including retention and acquisition in line with the business plan
  • Design & implement systems and reports to ensure the book of business is managed efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements whilst adhering to internal standards and best practices
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including customers, brokers, industry bodies, business partners, reinsurers and colleagues, to maximize influence
  • Keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively and appropriately
  • Produce training and guidance materials which support the account and embed compliance and best practice Management of the motor propositions and wordings

About you:

  • Clear technical expertise across commercial Casualty products and market conditions
  • Highly effective communication both verbal and written with the ability to build and maintain productive internal and external relationships
  • Ability to present to Executives and engage effectively with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Clear portfolio management skills, with the capability to analyse performance trends and provide insights around data
