Fantastic new permanent opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with this specialist software/technology business based in Portsmouth. My client has a market leading software solutions provider with an impressive list of clients within the financial services sector.

As an Infrastructure Engineer and part of the wider IT team you will manage, develop, and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networking, and cloud services. This role is crucial for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of IT services across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage server architectures, network configurations, and cloud services.
  • User device security and deployment.
  • Ensure the infrastructure is secure, resilient, and optimized for performance.
  • Maintain data backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard against data loss and system outages.
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Administer and support Azure Active Directory, including user and group management, role-based access control, and conditional access policies.
  • Ensure secure integration and synchronization between on-premises Active Directory and Azure AD.
  • Implement and manage Microsoft 365 security features, such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  • Work closely with the IT Infrastructure Manager and other IT team members on projects and daily operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and IT support staff.

Skills Required:

  • Proven previous experience within a similar Infrastructure Engineer position.
  • Extensive knowledge of networking protocols and services (DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud services management.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Strong understanding of security principles and practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, and encryption.
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, CCNA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
