  • Annual Salary: NJC Grade 6 SCP 18-20 (Outer London rates)

  • Job Type: Full-time, 1-year fixed-term contract (term time plus INSET days)

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a focus on careers, school council, and reading support for students in Key Stages 3 and 4. This role is an exciting opportunity to work within a professional team, supporting learning activities and covering classes in the absence of the teacher.

Day to day of the role:

  • Collaborate with teachers to support learning activities for classes and groups, with a specific focus on Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG).
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans to progress pupils' learning and assess, record, and report on development, progress, and attainment as agreed with the teacher.
  • Provide support for pupils undertaking lessons delivered via distance learning or computer-aided techniques.
  • Use detailed knowledge and skills to support and progress pupils' learning with a focus on CEIAG.
  • Deliver agreed learning activities to pupils, adjusting activities according to pupil responses/needs.
  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate an annual operational plan for CEIAG.
  • Represent the school at the local CEIAG network and plan for integrating CEIAG into the curriculum.
  • Provide a prioritised schedule of interviews for pupils and support their choices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of CEIAG and the ability to integrate it into the curriculum.
  • Ability to deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under the professional direction of a teacher and within an agreed system of supervision.
