- *About the Role:**
Career Teachers is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistants to join a vibrant and supportive SEN school in Leeds. As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
- Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons and activities.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
- Support students with personal care, mobility, and social integration.
- Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere to promote learning and development.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and report to the SENCO and teaching staff.
- *Requirements:**
- Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature with a passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- *Desirable:**
- Experience with specific SEN conditions such as autism, ADHD, or physical disabilities.
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication systems.
- Training in manual handling or personal care.
