Technical Manager - Plant Health Research - Cambs or Beds

Technically focused job opportunity for an agriculture or horticulture or science graduate with some experience in a technical department or crop trials or R&D or Agronomy team.

Great career opportunity to join a successful and well known plant protection and consumer goods company, a market leader across UK and Europe, with a wide ranging portfolio including plant protection products, fertilisers, biologicals, adjuvants, soil treatments and green alternatives. The Technical Officer will join a well-established Technical Department and be given lots of support to get fully up to speed over the first few months.

The main duties of the role will revolve around:

  • Driving and managing new innovation and product development
  • Managing and running the product trials and product testing programme, both in-house and external trials
  • Project management
  • Product stewardship and regulatory and quality matters
  • Providing a wide range of technical information and technical support to customers and endusers
  • Liaising with the business including the commercial, marketing and quality teams
  • Assisting with technical specifications and product compliance

Candidate requirements:

  • Degree or similar qualification in agriculture, horticulture, biology, or plant science.
  • Previous experience in a technical or agronomy role or within a technical team
  • Some experience in development work perhaps including running horticultural, glasshouse, or agricultural trials - helpful
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise a varied work load
  • Able to work under pressure, especially at times of peak demand
  • Good presentation skills
  • Computer literate
  • Driving licence
  • Willingness to travel within UK and sometimes overseas to shows, conferences, launches
