Join this amazing and dedicated team at friendly and diverse Primary School in Slough as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant. This vital role focuses on supporting students within the SEND department, particularly those with autism and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with autism and PMLD, adapting to their individual learning needs.
  • Implement and adapt Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SEND coordinator and subject teachers to enhance student learning.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a supportive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Use a variety of techniques to promote learning and engagement through sensory, interactive, and adaptive activities.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students, maintaining detailed records and providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students, helping them build confidence and independence.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within a special needs environment.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with autism and PMLD.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with teaching staff and parents.
  • A patient, caring, and creative approach to teaching and supporting students.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special needs education are highly desirable.
