Faculty / Directorate
The Estates and Facilities Directorate is large and diverse, employing over 300 people over a range of roles from manual, student facing to professional surveyors and sustainability experts.
The workload is varied from proactive maintenance, reactive problem solving and always at the heart of service delivery is customer engagement.
The Leisure team sit within Estates and Facilities and comprises of 3 sites : The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre, The Watershed and Beaumont Park Sports Facility. The sites deliver indoor and outdoor access for competitive, recreational and social activity for students, staff and the wider community to participate in.
The Leisure team is made up of 34 team members, of varying roles, and is supported with a range of temporary staff. These staff cover the opening times, Monday-Sunday, 6am - 11pm.
Role
The role is part of a busy outdoor sports facility team who deliver over 104 hours of contact time a week to students, pay as you go users, external hirers and the wider University community. The role is to provide exceptional service delivery to all users and visitors to the facilities and make it a welcoming, professional, safe and supported environment to enhance their experience.
The role is based at Beaumont Park Sports Facility and is full time on a 4 week rotation, Monday to Friday covering middles, lates and weekends.
You will be responsible for understanding and knowing all about the core business, be able to assist our users to get the most from their visits to our facilities, be welcoming, friendly and be the go-to person for all our users when they are using the facilities. The role will involve a high level of customer interaction, which will be face to face and dealing with queries over the telephone.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a passionate and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working outdoors, who like the existing members of staff, pride and strive to give the best service possible for those who visit the site and go the extra mile for customers when needed. We are looking to hear from candidates that have good communication and customer service skills, have a maturity and calmness to work under pressure, the ability to handle cash and maintain customer records, as well as a good telephone manner. Previous experience of dealing face to face with customers in a busy environment and/or worked at an outdoor sports facility is desirable.
You should have a good standard of general education to a minimum of GCSE level Grade C (or equivalent) including Maths and English, and have experience in a similar fast paced, energetic post. All relevant training will be provided by DMU to the post holders to carry out their duties competently.
