The Role

At Woodall Homes, a growing regional housebuilder known for delivering high-quality homes across the East Midlands, we are investing in a newly created Design Manager role.

We are seeking a Design Manager to oversee the design process and provide technical support to our Construction, Commercial, Planning, and Customer Care teams from concept to project completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget.

To succeed in this role, you should have experience working in a Design/Technical team, either with a residential developer or a multi-disciplinary consultancy. High proficiency in AutoCAD and a deep understanding of NHBC standards and Building Regulations are essential.

Key Engagement and Responsibilities

  • Planning: Assist the Planning Team with the preparation of planning applications.
  • Housetype portfolio: Assist in developing the Company's housetype portfolio and take a lead on the design approach to each site, particularly with respect to building regulation compliance and energy efficiencies.
  • Working Drawings: Oversee and coordinate the preparation and management of working drawings and outsourced drawing packages.
  • Site Management: Ensure timely delivery of developments by addressing technical queries, coordinating sites, and managing project meetings.
  • Technical Delivery: Convert planning-approved layouts to ensure they are technically deliverable and prepare conveyance plans and sales area drawings.
  • Construction Support: Maintain and issue construction drawings, ensuring compliance with approved planning schemes, and provide on-site design and build support.
  • Budget & Compliance: Monitor professional fees, ensure design conformity and manage building regulations sign-off for all plots.
  • Legal Coordination: Oversee and coordinate legal plans.
