Our client is a leading textiles manufacturer, supplying UK High Street retailers, Major Supermarkets and Online retailers. They now have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join the business.

As Senior Buyer, you will report into the Head of Product, and have responsibility for managing a well-established supply base across a range of raw materials as well as finished retail-ready products. Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Sourcing and negotiating prices and volumes with suppliers.
  • Strategically planning and developing a supply base to reflect global geo-political risk and mitigate risks affecting product availability and lead times.
  • Visiting suppliers predominantly in the Far East as and when required.
  • Maintaining control of the supply base and ensure compliance with all audit standards with the support of a separate compliance team.
  • Working closely with the NPD team to source and develop new products in line with seasonal selection calendars.
  • Managing the cost and availability of shipping containers.
  • Demand planning of raw materials into the business.
  • Managing a small team of purchasing administrators.

To be considered for this exciting and rare opportunity in the market, you must have sound experience of international buying & trading, as well as direct negotiating with overseas factories & international shipping. Expertise in leading and managing a small team is crucial, as is sourcing and onboarding new suppliers. Your ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and pressurised environment is key. Additional requirements are:

  • You will have operated at a senior level in a business and are adept at sharing information with the wider organisation with professionalism.
  • Fantastic problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • A background in textiles or commodities would be a bonus!
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a desire to get the best possible solution for the business.
  • Driving licence - occasional requirement to travel to the other offices.

In return, our client offers many fantastic benefits such as a competitive salary, bonus opportunity, hybrid working, 3pm finish on Friday and many more!
