Location: Desborough, Northamptonshire, NN14 2SR. Site based role with 20% home-working potential.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 08:30 - 17:00. Occasional flexibility required.
Salary: c.£38,000

About the Role
Are you a proactive, solutions-driven HR professional with a strong background in employee relations and operational HR support? We're looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our team at VPK Packaging, supporting all stages of the employee life cycle across one manufacturing plant and our head office (based at the same location), fostering a positive work environment and ensuring HR best practices. VPK Packaging is a leading corrugated packaging provider with a commitment to sustainability, innovation, and delivering high-quality, bespoke products to customers worldwide.
As a HR Advisor, you'll play a key role in managing day-to-day HR functions, advising on employee relations, recruitment, and compliance, as well as supporting training and development initiatives. You'll partner with managers to resolve workplace issues and provide a smooth, supportive experience for all employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage employee relations cases, including grievances, disciplinaries, and conflict resolution, coaching managers throughout the process to ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
- Provide support on restructuring and organisational design initiatives.
- Oversee attendance and support line managers with initiatives to reduce absenteeism.
- Identify and coordinate sitewide training programmes in collaboration with management.
- Deliver HR policy training and support employee development through performance reviews.
- Lead recruitment for production roles, handling the process from advertising to selection.
- Oversee onboarding, including inductions and documentation.
- Partner with Health & Safety teams to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Promote wellbeing and engagement initiatives that support worklife balance and mental health.
- Conduct employee surveys and support action planning based on results.
- Manage offboarding, including exit interviews and providing feedback to management.
- Lead HR projects, and support with policy development and process improvement to support strategic goals.
We believe our ideal HR Advisor will have
- A minimum 5 years in a generalist HR role, within a manufacturing setting.
- A strong knowledge of UK employment law and experience in employee relations, recruitment, and performance management.
- Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency with a HRIS (preferably iTrent).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problemsolving skills.
- An ability to manage priorities and build strong relationships across all levels.
- Union experience.
- A full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
- CIPD Level 5 certification (or equivalent).
