Overview:

The Relationship Manager role is a 6 Month Fixed term Contract role. It is working for a scaling Challenger Bank with an excellent reputation in the market. This position will have a focus on commercial mortgage lending so credit experience within SME lending will be required. The role is a hybrid working position with 2 days a week in the Manchester office.

Job Purpose of the Relationship Manager :

To support an existing portfolio of clients with the aim of retaining and growing quality relationships. As the same time managing the Banks risk exposure with specific reference to undertaking an appropriate annual review on each client connection or more, as dictated by the Bank.

To identify and develop new business opportunities within the portfolio or through referrals which will help the Bank achieve its strategic and Business Plan objectives. Generate compliant profitable sales through the achievement of 'modest' sales targets whilst ensuring good customer outcomes.

Responsibilities of the Relationship Manager :

  • Working closely with the Regional Director to develop and implement a maintain and grow strategy for the respective region, as part of the Banks' overall strategic plan, through the management of identified customer relationships.
  • Provide an affective first line of defence against increasing risk exposure due to deteriorating account performance via the completion of an annual review for each client connection in line with policy, and effective day to day management of any arrears concerns in conjunction with the Credit collections team.
  • Identify any new sales opportunities, with existing and potential customers, to generate compliant sales to achieve maximum profitability against a 'modest' sales target for the region, whilst meeting all regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring the correct customer outcomes are continually achieved.
  • Undertake appropriate risk assessment of any new lending proposals by ensuring proposals are supported by relevant, and acceptable documentation and all relevant facts are declared

Skills required for the Relationship Manager position :

  • Experience in a customer facing, business development type role, managing your own time and a varied portfolio of customers.
  • A proven record of credit analysis and decision making.
  • A high level of financial and commercial awareness with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.
