Location: Leicester

Salary: £28,875 per annum

Working arrangements: Hybrid working with 2 home working days

This is a fantastic opportunity for senior Payrollers looking to transition to management.

  • You will report into the Payroll Manager and oversea a team of 4 admins, processing monthly payroll for 10,000 employees.
  • In liaison with managers/colleagues/third parties, ensure all employee related data is correctly entered into the Priory Payroll System, and that all necessary amendments have been completed prior to the payroll cut-off date
  • Ensures the integrity, probity and reasonableness of local financial controls in respect of the payroll, in order to minimise financial risk via the correct implementation of local procedures and policies
  • Answer queries in respect of payroll, referring any complex issues to the appropriate level / manager
  • Ensure that all documentation is correctly filed, in order that financial auditors can be satisfied in their audit, via the efficient recovery of key documents of initial entry
  • The role holder undertakes routine and regular tasks, but can alter the sequence of tasks on a daily basis
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight payroll deadlines
  • Assist managers and third parties with enquires and sometimes demanding and difficult situations which will require demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills
  • Responsible for the accurate inputting of data, ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of documentation at the end of the processing month
  • The role holder will generally work within existing procedures and processes; however, there will occasionally be the need for more adaptive thinking, particularly when dealing with more complex or unusual queries
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality around the Central payroll content and an awareness of exposure of data within the wider office context
  • Support Team Leader with ad hoc tasks, system testing/process and SOP development/audit/RTI submissions/PAYE/project work
  • Process BACS Payments/Payrolls through PTX/Finance
  • Support with approval of manual payments
  • Produce and maintain SOP's for all processes undertaken in role
  • Cover Senior tasks in other divisional payrolls during periods of absence
  • Ability to quality check own work and others where applicable
  • Run end to end payroll process, from administration/SOX, right through to BACS
  • The role holder will be professional and confident when dealing with senior management
  • Responsible for processing of payroll with high level of accuracy

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in processing high volume payroll
  • A good knowledge and experience of payroll taxation, SSP, and Holiday
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficient in payroll software - Itrent, E Roster
  • CIPP qualification preferred but not required
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively with other teams
