Finance Officer

Are you a finance professional looking for an exciting opportunity? Our client, a dynamic organisation in the public sector, is seeking a Finance Officer to join their team! This is a temporary 6 month position, perfect for someone with a passion for finance and a desire to make a difference.

Days: Monday to Friday

Hours: 9am-4:45pm

Location: Liverpool, L20

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and ensure approved income and expenditure is within allocated budget
  • Assist the Management Accountant with budget planning and monitoring expenditure
  • Keep the payroll database and employee structures up to date
  • Assist in the preparation of revenue budgets and update relevant budgets
  • Provide support with cost centre variances and recommend actions to address them
  • Attend budget/finance meetings to address concerns and assist with queries
  • Issue position statements and reports by prescribed deadlines
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to budget managers and create reports as needed
  • Maintain details of authorised signatories and ensure user profiles are updated
  • Provide training in finance, eProcurement, and budgetary control to staff at all levels
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with funding agreements and grants
  • Advise on risk areas and provide assistance with audits
  • Ensure all deadlines are met and assist in the annual budget statements

Requirements:

  • Part qualified accountant or qualified Association of Accounting Technicians (A.A.T.)
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Experience using e-financial accounting applications and Business Objects report writer
  • Previous experience in a financial environment and working as part of a team
  • Ability to work accurately and prioritise tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Motivated, analytical, with attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
