Role: Risk and Compliance Manager
Contract Duration: 4 months (May extend)
Pay rate: £585 to £652 per day + Holiday pay (PAYE - Inside IR35)
Start: Immediate (October/Early November)
Location: Central London office - Hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home

Our client is a global technology leader. They are looking for a candidate with demonstrated expertise in EU/UK regulated financial services company to lead the Risk team. As the Risk Manager you will play a vital role in ensuring that business complies with local and global legal and compliance requirements, using a pragmatic approach to balance risk management guidance against competing priorities. You will join a team that partners across the organisation to shape the future of the company's evolving risk and compliance programs and where we value ownership, insight, intellectual flexibility, and sound business judgement.
You will attend meetings with stakeholders and customers, involving reviewing and writing risk reports. Reviewing and rating risks that have been identified.
You will be working on payment and business products in UK and EU and liaising with risk managers across the globe and board directors.
You will use your experience working with businesses and working autonomously to meet with senior EU, UK, and global stakeholders, give advice and feedback on application of risk management, draft documents, attend Board meetings, provide feedback, and oversee the work of your team.

Key responsibilities
The role responsibilities cover three areas: (1) Risk Manager for 4 EU / UK licensed entities; (2) Responsible owner for at least two global programs; and (3) Team management.
(1) EU and UK Risk Manager: Lead the risk management program for the EU / UK licensed entities (payments, insurance distribution, and credit broking), including:

  • Road-map creation, including embedding of risk management mechanisms and support for change management (e.g., product launches, geographic launches, etc.)
  • Monitoring of risk exposure versus entity risk appetite, with escalation as appropriate.
  • Facilitate detailed, data driven narratives to inform leadership/Board members of risk levels, mitigation, and impacts.
  • Incident response support.

(2) Global Programs: Responsible for three global programs (underneath), including development of policies, procedures, toolkits, and other governance documents as necessary:

  • Business Continuity / Operational Resilience.
  • Product Risk Assessment/Material Changes to Business Products.

(3) Team Management:

  • Manage a team of three globally dispersed direct reports through the employee life-cycle

Requirements

  • Strong risk management skills, with a with proven experience in a risk management role.
  • Manage several projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency.
  • Articulate the three lines of risk management model and help define ownership roles and responsibilities.
  • Coach non-risk professionals on key elements of Risk Management best practices.
  • A pragmatic approach to risk, balancing risk mitigation activities with risk appetite and resource levels.
  • Strong document writing and data analysis skills.
