Civil Engineer

Our prestigious client, based in Dover, is seeking a Civil Engineer to work on a broad range of civil engineering and structural assets, from landside assets such as bridges and roadways, to marine assets, eg piers, quays and breakwaters.

Salary is £35,000/annum upwards, dependent upon experience, for a 40 hour week on a full-time and permanent basis, with benefits to include:

Key duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Be part of a team responsible for acting as internal consultants to the rest of the engineering department and the wider business, reviewing designs and specifications to ensure they are aligned to statutory and best practice approaches.
  • Oversee a programme of condition inspections, reporting on inspection findings, and applying your critical judgement to plan an efficient programme of maintenance and repairs that push forward the sustainability agenda. By taking a keen interest in emerging design and construction methodologies, material technologies, and inspection techniques, you will drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Prepare designs, work packages, specifications and drawings, for work to be carried out by contract, whether new construction, planned maintenance or reactive maintenance.

To apply, you should possess the following:

  • BEng/MEng in relevant engineering discipline, with 3+ years post-graduate experience
  • Familiar with current design codes
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations
  • Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with a structured, methodical approach, offer ideas, make decisions and apply good judgement in problem solving
  • Skilled and knowledgeable in the use of (or willing to learn) AutoCad
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence
