Mechanical Technician

H9 Technical Recruitment are hiring for a Mechanical Technician to work at our clients EfW plant in Sittingbourne, Kent.

You will be working as part of a maintenance team to carry out both ad-hoc and planned preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe, compliant and commercially effective way to ensure operational continuity, reliability and performance of the plant.

This role is worked on a rotating shift pattern typically. However, in times of unscheduled downtime and outage, flexibility and additional hours will be required. This may include weekends and nights. This is to meet operational demands and maximise plant availability. Emergency call-out will be a requirement in order to meet operational demands.

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinating and planning daily maintenance activities and assisting in outage planning, scheduling & co-ordination.
  • Involvement in any investigations into safety and technical aspects of the mechanical equipment within the plant, along with designing and installing of new equipment and/or system modifications and understands the requirements of a change management process.
  • Preparation of work control packs using a maintenance management system, issuing said work packs and reporting on close out of the work.
  • Use of a maintenance reporting system to record time and material use, problems identified and corrected, and further action required. Provides a complete history of maintenance on equipment.
  • Reads and interprets drawings, sketches, prints and specifications as required.
  • Responds within a reasonable time to any emergency call-ins and provides acceptable off-duty cover as directed by the Mechanical Engineer.

Skills & Qualifications

  • NVQ3 qualified Mechanical engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance and operational systems gained within power generation, renewable energies or other similar related industry.
  • Ideally, a background as a Maintenance Technician or Service Engineer undertaking mechanical repairs on plant equipment.
