Our client, one of the top law firms in the UK, has an exciting opportunity for a Trust Executive to join their team!

The role:

  • Reporting to and liaising with Trustees and beneficiaries
  • Carrying out annual Trust reviews in conjunction with Trustees
  • Drafting some Trust documentation to record events during the lifetime of the Trust
  • Preparation of Inheritance Tax, Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax returns
  • Updating trust database with information to comply with Trust Registration Service requirements and ensure information held up to date
  • Registering trusts with the Trust Registration Service and ensuring information held is up to date
  • Ensuring Trust synopses held electronically are up to date
  • Data entry of investment transactions received by contract note, statement, periodic valuations or via online portals
  • Reconciliation of the data entry - with a view to the production of annual Trust Accounts and Tax Returns, ensuring information held as accurate and up to date as possible
  • Liaising with Investment Managers/HMLR/other financial institutions regarding changes in trust circumstances/trustee appointments and retirements etc.
  • Preparation for, and actioning, regular payments to/on behalf of trustees as instructed
  • Settlement of tax liabilities arising
  • Reviewing and circulating, as appropriate, periodic valuations to Trustees with appropriate observations and comment
  • Reviewing and updating FATCA/GIIN status for trusts via IRS portal
  • Assisting with the preparation of the required reports for bi-annual Trustees meetings of Charitable Trusts.

Key skills/ experience:

  • Commercially minded with the ability to scope and price work appropriately and profitably
  • Excellent written English
  • Previous experience of professional services within a law firm
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional understanding of confidentiality
  • High standards of client service
  • Ability to work with and inspire others to learn and develop
  • Excellent user of MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
