Regional Sales Manager

We offer the world's most comprehensive product portfolio of electro-mechanical and electronic devices through to complete power distribution systems. We serve many industries, spanning transportation, automation, process and control, through to telecommunication and data centers. Founded in 1948, we remain family owned with headquarters in Germany, we have 4 production facilities, >1400 employees and operate in over 60 countries. We are now seeking a key member for our team to help develop and grow business across the North region.

Title: Regional Sales Manager

Area: North UK (including some responsibility for Ireland depending on candidate)

Responsibilities:

  • Management of a sales territory to achieve an agreed sales budget and market development goals.
  • Business development of existing customers and projects, and acquisition of new accounts.
  • Identify and develop growth opportunities, building an opportunity pipeline and ultimately converting to order.
  • Follow up on leads and provide relevant technical support.
  • Work in close collaboration with internal customer services team and all other relevant departments as required.
  • Consultative sales approach with frequent communications with existing, new and potential customers via: face to face visits, web meetings, phone calls and email.
  • Establish and maintain fruitful relationships with clients and address their needs effectively.
  • Tenacity to work on opportunities and projects with long sales cycles to keep E-T-A well-positioned.
  • Liaising with HQ site in Altdorf, Germany and European subsidiaries as required.
  • Ability to work autonomously, taking initiative and setting priorities.
  • Attend sales meetings, produce visit reports, maintain and update CRM as required.

Requirements:

  • Technical qualification in an Electrical &/or Electronic discipline; &/or demonstrable hands-on technical experience (apprenticeship).
  • 5 years+ technical sales experience, including account management and new business development.
  • Experience and knowledge of all/some of the following markets: Transport (speciality vehicles, ConAg, bus, truck, rail & aerospace). Automation, Process & Control (factory & process automation, machine & panel builders, automotive manufacturing sites). Communication & Systems (telecoms and data centres).
  • Demonstrable track record of generating, leading and closing major business opportunities.
  • Preferably some formal sales training, excellent presentation skills and experience of various basic types of software (excel, power point, word, CRM).
  • Above all a positive can-do attitude, with the tenacity and enthusiasm to develop business.
