ITAM Specialist

We are now looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive individual to join our team as an IT Asset Specialist. This role will be perfect for an individual who excels both independently and within a team, and who can contribute to the evolution of our IT asset management practices.

The successful candidate will work alongside the existing team member to ensure the efficient completion of all day-to-day activities related to hardware and software asset management. This includes tracking and auditing hardware and software assets, disposing of hardware assets in accordance with relevant regulations, identifying opportunities to reduce costs and mitigate risks associated with software licensing, and maintaining an effective license position for all software contracts.

As an IT Asset Specialist, you will be instrumental in advancing the ITAM function's maturity. Collaborating closely with the IT Service Manager, you will evaluate current processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement and help implement effective asset management practices.

What does the job involve?

  • Keeping track of all IT assets owned by the organisation, including hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Managing the entire lifecycle of IT assets, from procurement to retirement or disposal.
  • Monitoring software licenses to ensure compliance with vendor agreements and optimising license usage to minimise costs.
  • Conducting regular audits to verify the accuracy of asset inventories and ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Analysing asset usage patterns and identifying opportunities to optimise resources and reduce costs without compromising performance.
  • Ongoing review of existing Asset Management processes and procedures to identify areas of improvement, ensuring improvement activities and planed and implemented.
  • Helping drive better practices and culture across the organisation by embedding ITAM into all existing processes, including new starters, leavers, procurement, and projects.
  • Working with cost centre owners to forecast budget requirements, based on expenditure and potential future cost
  • Supporting the IT Service Manager with supplier management activities, such as attending suppler service meetings, preparing supplier score cards and monthly supplier MI.

  • Previous experience in an IT Asset management co-ordinator, specialist, or similar role.
  • Knowledge of Hardware Asset life cycle from request to disposal.
  • Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions, purchase orders, and service agreements.
  • Knowledge of software management practices, ensuring optimal use and compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Experience of using hardware and software asset management tools or systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office desktop tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience of Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) - desirable
  • ITIL V3/4 certification - desirable
