My client, based in Colchester, is seeking a dynamic and driven Purchasing Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To develop and implement robust processes with internal and external suppliers to meet service levels and satisfactions.
  • Secure supplies of materials and services in line with business needs.
  • Manage the integration of new suppliers into the business.
  • Maintain the database of all current supplier contracts, pricing and service level agreements.
  • Improve working capital and manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Responsible for the tracking and actioning of slow moving and obsolete stock through SAP.
  • To ensure that KPI data is distributed in a timely manner.
  • To manage all stock levels in line with customer agreements and business and cash flow targets.
  • Work with all internal departments to achieve service and delivery performance targets.
  • Ensure excellent communication with all suppliers.
  • Using OE Tools, develop and execute performance improvement initiatives.
  • With the Supply Chain Manager, manage and develop a focused and professional supply chain team.
  • In conjunction with commercial team, to manage all customer liaison interface.
  • Supporting project work carried out by both mechanical and electrical engineering personnel.
  • To line-manage the direct reports by providing support in all areas.
  • To generate, manage, report and achieve purchase savings in alignment with budgeted targets.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to generate a clear analytical framework for decision making, problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven Management, leadership and coaching skills.
  • Proven ability to implement change management processes.
  • Ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines.
  • Experience of manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
  • Assertive behaviour allowing influencing through negotiation.
  • Strong organisational and administrative ability.
  • Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team and manage a busy workload.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in an environment of continual change with a "can do" attitude.
  • A working knowledge of IT and Business systems.
  • Logical and analytical approach to problem solving.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level and / or with relevant experience within Purchasing and Supply Chain.
