Payroll Manager

We have an opportunity for an experienced Payroll Manager to join our busy HR Shared Service Centre based in Hammersmith. Joining us as the Payroll Manager, you'll be part of a centralised HR team, providing payroll services and benefit administration for our employees based in the UK and Ireland. You'll manage, coach, and develop the payroll team to ensure the accurate processing of both weekly and monthly payrolls for both factory and office based colleagues in the UK and Ireland. You'll also support the design and delivery of our UK and Ireland benefits framework.

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Act as subject matter expert in all aspects of payroll, responsible for the management of all payroll account reconciliations and performing payroll sign-off to certify employee financial data is accurate and complies with SOX legislation evidenced by effective internal controls.
  • Work with our payroll systems partners to ensure we streamline our payroll processing, and provide our internal Finance teams with accurate General Ledger and other required reports.
  • Support the annual UK and Ireland insured benefit renewals for our group life, income protection, and medical schemes working with our Group Reward team and supported by our appointed brokers.
  • Build effective relationships with key stakeholders across both HR and Finance, alongside our third-party suppliers.
  • Ownership of the administration of our car fleet, administered by our external partner.
  • Analyse monthly payroll and benefit metrics.
  • Identify and implement continual process improvements to maintain accuracy and effective ways of working.

About You

We're looking for a Payroll Manager who has experience of working in a fast paced, FMCG environment. You'll have experience of running weekly and monthly payrolls in the UK and Ireland, knowledge of payroll systems (ideally ADP and PXD), a track record of building, managing, and coaching teams, plus well-rounded interpersonal skills with the confidence to manage stakeholders. We look for people who are focused on getting the job done, embrace learning, and bring positive energy, combining initiative with a sense of teamwork and collaboration. You'll bring:

  • Demonstrable inhouse payroll management experience, with a depth of knowledge of both UK and Irish pay and tax legislation
  • A solid understanding of the link between payroll processing and HR processes
  • Previous experience and knowledge of benefit administration would be advantageous
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a high level of organisational skills and strong attention to detail
  • The ability to make autonomous decisions relating to the effective running of our payrolls
  • Adaptability, resilience, and an appetite for change and improvement
  • SOX or other internal audit/compliance experience using inhouse developed controls.
