Maintenance, Incident Response and Fleet Lead

1. Job Purpose

Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Manager (OMM), you will provide first level supervision to our Incident Response, General Maintenance, and our in-house ITS/MEP teams. You will support the OMM by overseeing each teams day-to-day activities, issuing permits escalating issues to the OMM where required.

In addition, manage the operational fleet and plant needs of the project facilities, ensuring that all vehicles are maintained, insured, licenced with incident response vehicles available 24/7, 365. Processing hires of additional plant for planned activities.

You manage the delivery day-to-day activities will supervise both our direct employees and subcontractors who maintain the ME&P Systems ensuring a safe and correct performance. Support the annual revision of the ME&P Systems Lifecycle and maintenance program. Plan activities based on the asset condition surveys and focus maintaining the required safety score and verify the tunnel safety management system record.

When required, deputies on behalf of the OMM as a single point of contact for maintenance closures in the role of Closure Manager.

2. Tasks/Responsibilities as follows:

  • First line supervision responsibility for all Incident Response, General Maintenance, and our in-house ITS/MEP teams.
  • Ensure that adequate staffing levels are continually maintained 24/7.
  • Having a clear understanding of the overall physical infrastructure of the project facilities and the various systems within.
  • Have a clear understanding of the wider needs of others, including tunnel customers, traffic management sub-contractors.
  • Assist the OMM with regards to recruitment, training and development of all the team under your supervision.
  • Lead by example and proactively monitor team performance addressing any inconsistencies at the source.
  • Create, maintain, and promote collaborative working ensuring process, procedures and company policies mirror staff competencies.
  • Produce and submit monthly system data reports to the OMM and Tunnel Manager in line with the client's guidelines.
  • Manage "on-road" incident response safe systems of work (SSOW) and carry out periodic reviews with the OMM and Tunnel Safety Officer (TSO) to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Manage the rota of the Incident response & Maintenance team, and MEP team to ensure 24h /7 coverage in the tunnel.
  • Manage the maintenance closures including subcontractors, in-house activities and traffic management.
  • Managing the inventory and ensuring spares and materials are available when required. Advanced planification of materials and equipment required for the planned maintenance closures.
  • Carry out periodic reviews with the OMM of all general maintenance SSOWs and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of the various computer systems utilised in the TCC.
  • Provide support and assistance to TfL in the management and supervision of incident support resources.
  • In the absence of the OMM act as the single point of contact for maintenance and "on-road" incident response related issues.
  • In the absence of the OMM represent at all meetings associated with maintenance.
  • Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Maintain and manage the operational fleet ensuring operationally sensitive vehicles remain available 24/7, 365.
  • Annually review fleet and plant needs ensuring best cost effectiveness
  • Prepared to form part of the "on-call" roster
  • Perform any additional duties for the OMM as and when required.

3. Typical Skills/Experience as follows:

  • Ideally hold an SSSTS/SMSTS or similar level of H&S qualification
  • IPAF desirable
  • Applicants should be IT literate.
  • Relevant experience of working in a multi-task team environment
  • Relevant experience in managing fleet desirable
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written
