We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Manager, Science Communities to join us on a 12 month, full-time (35-hour week) basis.

The role of Programme Manager, Science Communities will combine your passion for chemical sciences and working with the research community to identify issues & opportunities and to develop and manage projects to address these topics.
In this role you will:
- Develop and deliver our science community programmes that span the different subject areas in the chemical sciences involving members from different career stages and sectors including industry, academia and other research organisations.
- Work with our science communities to enable networking and collaboration, and to facilitate solutions to address chemistry-based problems from discovery to application and to drive change.
- Work in partnership with expert colleagues to maximise the impact of our strategic programmes, thought leadership and policy work for our science communities.
At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although, in this role, you will typically spend two days a week in our Cambridge office, especially initially, and thereafter with some flexibility depending on other work travel commitments including time working from our office in London. Some travel within the UK will also be required. If you need flexible working arrangements, please outline this in your application.
We are looking for:
- PhD in chemistry or related science and engineering area (or equivalent gained, for example, through working in science labs or science-related project management, publishing or community engagement).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of working on projects involving multiple stakeholders and / or able to balance and prioritise across multiple projects, tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to build strong relationships and establish ongoing 2-way engagement with diverse stakeholders e.g. different career stages, roles, levels and from different sectors
- Initiative and ability to develop new ideas and approaches
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Interest or awareness of chemistry's role in advancing science and technology and of the factors currently influencing the research and innovation environment, as well as the needs and concerns of people in the research and innovation community
- Experience of facilitation and / or organisation of networks, meetings or workshops (desirable)
