Director of Operations and Estates

Posted by The Management Recruitment Group.

Colfe's School is one of London's oldest schools. It can be traced back to the 17th century. Although founded in 1652, the School's estate is modern and practical, dating from the mid-twentieth century or later. The main School estate comprises the Senior School campus, Junior School and Sports Centre with a full-size swimming pool. The School also owns two nearby sportsgrounds - the Old Colfeians' and Leathersellers' grounds.

As a leading co-educational London day school, Colfe's has seen a great deal of progress in recent years. We are a modern and relevant independent school with a grounded community of pupils, parents and staff. The school is well subscribed, and we are continuing to invest in our Estate to accommodate a rise in pupil numbers.

The Director of Operations and Estates is a wide-ranging role with a remit spanning all aspects of facilities and estates, including responsibility for grounds, contracted catering and transport services, and ownership of the Health and Safety and sustainability agendas.

The priorities are to continue the strategic development and modernisation of the Estates, incorporating environmental sustainability improvements wherever possible, and ensure support services are meeting demanding customer service standards. Reporting to the Bursar, you will enjoy a high degree of autonomy in your role, and will be supported by the Premises Manager, Projects & Estates Manager, Head of Grounds, and Colfe's Leisure Services Manager (the School's facilities letting and members' leisure centre business).

We are seeking an exceptional leader. You will be a credible and experienced individual with a track record of managing significant resources and implementing change across organisations of comparable size and complexity. A natural collaborator, you will possess the stature and the interpersonal skills required to operate effectively in a busy school environment.

Closing Date for Applications: Sunday 14th July 2024

Interviews at the school: To be held w/c 29th July 2024

To arrange a confidential discussion and/or to request the full briefing particulars, please contact our retained advisors Sian Gardiner and Michael Hewlett of MRG Schools Leadership.
