Here at PJ Taste, we're now looking to recruit for this brand-new role of General Manager (Catering). Over the last couple of years, we've seen team expansion, the creation of an Employee Ownership Trust and innovation into new products and services.
With the creation of the EOT, changes internally have created this new role as Peter starts to take a step back, and we can't wait to see what 2024/2025 shapes up to be like with this new person in place and with Peter supporting on a consultancy basis.

We prepare a wide range of menus our chefs make everything from scratch, sourcing ingredients from South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, supporting local farmers as well as growing our own edible flowers, fruits and herbs!
We opened our first ever shop in May 2006, expanded into a full external catering business since then and have our own 120 seat private events venue / HQ in Attercliffe, Sheffield.
On a day to day basis in this newly created role no two days would be the same and your initial induction would involve an in-depth handover from Peter as he removes himself from the day to day operational elements of the business.
What you'd be involved in on a day to day basis would be:
- Leading the team, with direct responsibility for the department managers
- Ensuring the team remain on track with the strategic plan for 2024 and beyond
- Identifying, managing and delegating where appropriate new project opportunities and innovation.
- Developing our product and services in line with changing customer demand to maximise potential profitability.
- Overseeing and managing fulfilment of legal duties across Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and other statutory duties.
A more in depth JD can be provided on application, but you should note that this is a new role, and the right person will be the kind of character that is happy to go with the flow a little, as is needed in the busy world of catering!
There is plenty of growth poteintal with this role, with possible future progression into a director position, and after 6 months of service there is a potential EOT bonus. Which is worked pro rata to salary so will increase they salary by a higher cash amount than any other employee!
