About the role

Nominet is seeking an experienced Test and Release Manager to join our forward-thinking team. You will play a critical dual role in ensuring the timely delivery of application releases to our customers, and managerial oversight of software testing for software delivered to our internal and external customers. The scope of the role is for our core Registry services and broader technology services. This combined role requires a strong leader who can oversee the testing lifecycle, manage test environment deployment slots and coordinate the release process. Your contributions will be vital to maintaining the stability, security, and performance of the services that support millions of domain names worldwide.

As Test and Release Manager, you will collaborate closely with Software Engineering, Portfolio Management, Information Security and our Product teams to design and implement effective testing and release processes.

You will lead a virtual team to ensure that software meets our rigorous quality standards. You will need to manage by influence across the company, including effective communication to senior stakeholders. Your expertise will be essential in driving continuous improvement across the testing and release management processes.

About you and your experience

  • Experience in Software Testing and Release Management for large-scale, complex software systems, preferably within a registry or similar environment.
  • Experience in production of high-quality test plans and test results documentation.
  • Strong Knowledge of Testing and Release Methodologies including functional, performance, security, and regression testing, as well as familiarity with release management best practices.
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks, such as Selenium, JUnit, or similar, and the ability to design and implement effective automation strategies.
  • Knowledge and experience with CI/CD pipelines and how testing and release activities fit into these workflows, ensuring rapid and reliable software delivery.
  • Proficiency with defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla) and a strong understanding of defect lifecycle management.
  • Ability to manage multiple testing and release projects simultaneously, with a focus on delivering high-quality results on time.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership abilities with a focus on guiding and mentoring a dotted line combined team of testers and release engineers. Capable of driving a high-performance culture and leading by example.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex testing and release concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ensure an understanding of the different audiences for our documentation and compose any materials accordingly.
