Assistant Head of Year

Career Teachers have an exciting new opportunity for a proactive and engaging Assistant Head of Year (non-teaching) to join the pastoral team of a secondary School based in Sandwell. This is a full-time role to start as soon as possible, time only.

You will be working within a secondary school based in Sandwell who are committed to providing a high standard of education for pupils between the ages of 11-18. They pride themselves on their dedication to ensuring every child receives a first-class education, in an enriching and aspiring environment where they can achieve excellent outcomes.

You will be working under the direction of Head of Year, providing support across the year groups, to ensure high levels of punctuality and attendance at all times. You will also be required to managing student behaviour and to overcome barriers to learning, inspiring children and helping pupils reengage with education. This is a full time, temporary role to start as soon as possible. Monday - Friday, 08:15- 15:45 until July 2024.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months experience working with children, young people and families
  • Able to establish positive relationships with students, staff, parents/ carers and external agencies
  • Passionate about helping children and young people achieve their full potential.
  • Able to build confidence and motivation.
  • Able to remain calm and resilient under pressure
  • High levels of empathy, caring, compassionate, and a good listener
  • Motivated and enthusiastic, with a professional approach to work
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Eligibility to work within the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
  • Have up-to-date safeguarding training; Career Teachers offer a FREE online Safeguarding training course
  • Able to provide a minimum of 2 x employment references to cover the last 2 years
